This Privacy Policy describes how OkayList collects, uses, and protects your personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy laws.
1. Who We Are
OkayList is a web application that helps people create and share step-by-step guides with anyone they choose. We are based in Canada and our Service is intended for Canadian residents.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following information when you use OkayList:
- Account information: Your name and email address when you register
- Content you create: Guide titles, descriptions, step text, images, and audio recordings you upload
- Usage data: Basic information about how you use the Service, such as pages visited and actions taken
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, and device information collected automatically
- Payment information: When you subscribe to Premium, Lemon Squeezy processes your payment and shares your email address and subscription status with us. We do not receive or store your credit card details.
- Journal entries and to-do items: Text, dates, and audio recordings you create in your personal journal and to-do list
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to provide and improve the Service:
- To create and manage your account
- To display your guides and steps to the people you invite
- To send password reset emails when requested
- To improve the functionality and user experience of OkayList
- To comply with legal obligations
- To manage your Premium subscription and verify your access level
- To send account confirmation and subscription-related emails
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. File Storage
Images and audio files you upload are stored on Cloudflare R2, a cloud storage service operated by Cloudflare, Inc. Files stored in R2 may be publicly accessible to anyone with the direct file URL. For this reason, we strongly advise you not to upload sensitive personal, financial, medical, or confidential information.
5. Third-Party Services
OkayList uses the following third-party services to operate:
- Render — web hosting and database hosting
- Cloudflare R2 — file storage for images and audio
- Resend — email delivery for password reset emails
- Lemon Squeezy — payment processing and subscription management. As our merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy handles all payment transactions and tax compliance. Your payment information is subject to Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy.

6. Payment Data
Premium subscription payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as our merchant of record. OkayList does not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other sensitive payment information.
When you subscribe, Lemon Squeezy shares your email address and subscription status with us so we can activate your Premium access. We retain your subscription status and renewal date to manage your account. If you cancel your subscription, we retain basic transaction records as required by Canadian tax law.
7. Cookies and Sessions
OkayList uses cookies to maintain your login session. A session cookie is stored on your device when you sign in. If you select "Remember me", a longer-term cookie is stored for up to 1 year. You can clear cookies through your browser settings, which will log you out of the Service.
8. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.
9. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
Under Canada's PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Withdraw consent for the use of your personal information (subject to legal restrictions)
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

10. Children's Privacy
OkayList is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. These include encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password storage, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the Service or by email. Your continued use of OkayList after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
